Job summary

Tandem Health is seeking a Director of Engineering to lead the engineering craft across the company and serve as the operational leader of the platform org. You will elevate how we build and ship software, set engineering standards, and drive a high-velocity, high-quality engineering culture rooted in agentic principles.

The role focuses on architectural oversight, developer experience, and scaling practices to support rapid growth in healthcare AI.

Qualifications

Proven experience leading large technical initiatives and engineering teams.
Strong focus on software craft, architecture, and developer experience.
Experience establishing agentic engineering principles across orgs.
Proven ability to shape technical direction and influence product velocity.
Excellent systems thinking and ability to balance speed, scale, and quality.
Demonstrated ownership and long-term thinking about technical quality.

Responsibilities

Lead and evolve the overall engineering craft across the company.
Push the edge of how agentic engineering enables faster, higher-quality delivery.
Improve engineering processes, workflows, and development practices.
Partner with Product, Design, and Engineering leadership to shape product
Mentor engineers and Team Leads through technical guidance and collaboration.
Contribute hands-on when needed in architecture, systems design, or implementation.
Create alignment around technical direction and engineering quality.
Drive high-velocity shipping with high uptime (99.99%).
