Job summary

Basta Kitchen, part of Urban Italian Group, is seeking a Head Chef to lead a busy kitchen with discipline and pride. You will oversee prep, service and daily operations, ensuring top quality and consistency across dishes.

We value structure, ownership and the energy of a connected team. You will coach chefs, manage stock and food cost, and partner with the General Manager to drive strong restaurant performance in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Proven track record as Head Chef or senior kitchen leader.
• Ability to manage high-volume services and maintain standards.
• Strong knowledge of food safety and HACCP principles.

Responsibilities

• Lead the kitchen team through prep, service and daily operations.
• Deliver consistent food quality, presentation and standards.
• Coach, train and develop chefs across sections.
• Manage stock, ordering, waste and food cost with attention to detail.
• Ensure hygiene, safety and compliance standards at all times.

The Role

As Head Chef, You will be responsible for keeping the kitchen running smoothly through busy services, supporting and developing your team, and making sure our food standards are delivered with pride and discipline. This is a role for someone who enjoys structure, ownership and the pace of a high-volume restaurant.

What you'll be doing

• Leading the kitchen team through prep, service and daily operations.
• Delivering consistent food quality, presentation and kitchen standards.
• Coaching, training and developing chefs across all sections.
• Managing stock, ordering, waste and food cost with strong attention to detail.
• Ensuring hygiene, food safety and compliance standards are followed at all times.
• Working closely with the General Manager to support strong restaurant performance.
• Building a positive, hard-working kitchen culture based on teamwork and accountability.

You’ll thrive in this role if you

• Has strong experience as a Head Chef, Sous Chef or senior kitchen leader.
• Is confident leading a busy, high-volume kitchen.
• Understands food cost, stock control, ordering and kitchen profitability.
• Can train, coach and motivate a team with clear standards.
• Leads by example and stays calm under pressure.
• Takes pride in consistency, cleanliness and operational discipline.
• Believes great kitchens are built through teamwork, ownership and respect.
