Marine Alpha seeks a hands-on marine engineer to lead on-site development in Karlskrona. You will build, test and integrate the vessel platform daily, guiding a growing student team and coordinating with the Munich team.

This role emphasizes practical engineering over management, with responsibility for mechanical, electrical and software integration and direct influence on mission testing and platform evolution.

Qualifications

• Hands-on marine engineering experience is required.
• Experience with autonomous systems, robotics, or comparable hardware platforms.
• Strong network in the Karlskrona area and local ecosystem.
• Confidence taking ownership of a small, growing team and guiding its direction.
• Ability to move between mechanical, electrical and software domains as needed.
• Ability to mentor working students and thesis candidates.

Responsibilities

• Build, wire, install, calibrate and test the vessel platform yourself, hands-on.
• Own the Karlskrona site's engineering output end to end.
• Coordinate closely with the Munich team to align platforms across sites.
• Guide and coordinate the students working on Marine Alpha's platforms.
• Work closely with technology, decisions and people building Marine Alpha.
• Build and shape the local team as it grows.
