Job description

We are seeking a manager who wants to combine leadership and geology in a role where you influence both strategy and working methods in our Kiruna mine.

Shaping the future

At LKAB, we are leading the transformation of our industry toward a sustainable future. Just as we aim to reshape the world, we are committed to developing every individual on our team, both personally and professionally. Are you ready to help shape the future of the mining and mineral industry?

Your role

The Kiruna mine is entering a new era of transformation from mining at greater depths, adopting advanced digital tools and sustainable practices and moving city infrastructure. As Group Manager Geology, you will be at the forefront of this change. In your role, you have the chance to drive the modernisation of geological workflowsand the integration of technical improvements that support both daily operations and long-term strategy. You will play a key role in shaping how geological data is generated, shared, and used across the organisation, ensuring that the team is ready for the future of mining in Kiruna.

In addition, you manage recruitment, career development, and take responsibility for work environment, budget, and production planning. You oversee planning of diamond drilling, geological mapping, and modeling, and provide forecasts and analysis that support decision-making. Also, you build collaborative networks across the organization, within the mine production as well as with exploration and engineering departments.

The current team consists of 11 members who work both above and below ground, and you will report to the Section Manager for Mine Planning.

What you bring

We seek a leader who brings clarity and structure to processes, collaborates across teams to overcome silos, and finds solutions without unnecessary escalation. With a strategic mindset, you can guide a team of experienced geologists through change and shape long-term plans. Above all, you lead inclusively by listening, valuing diverse perspectives, and fostering an environment where everyone feels involved.

Ideally, you are an experienced geologist ready to take your first step into management. Alternatively, you may not have a geology background but have demonstrated leadership experience in your field. In addition, we are looking for someone with:

  • University degree in geology, rock mechanics/engineering, or relevant field.
  • Several years of relevant experience from either geology, tunneling, or mining.
  • Driving license, equivalent to Swedish class B.

It is an advantage if you have:

  • Experience from the mining industry.
  • Leadership or supervisory experience.
  • Ability to communicate in Swedish. While it is not required from day one, you are expected to learn the language over time.
What we offer

In addition to the general benefits we offer — which you can find a bit further down — we can also offer you, who currently do not live in Sweden, the following:

  • Relocation support for you and your family.
  • Excellent conditions for settling in. We guide you through the official procedures necessary to settle in the country if you come from outside Sweden. We also provide temporary accommodation for a reasonable period and help you find a permanent place to live according to your personal needs.
  • LKAB helps you learn Swedish, a tool for a better understanding of Swedish culture.
  • The Swedish vacation law entitles all employees to five weeks of vacation per year, and four consecutive weeks during June, July, or August. Your contract may include extra vacation days.
