Job summary

Epiroc in Örebro, Sweden, is seeking a Functional Safety Engineer to lead safety-related functions across our systems. You will ensure compliance with standards and regulatory requirements, and drive verification, validation, and documentation of safety processes.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, develop safety concepts, and support competence development to strengthen our safety culture and product integrity throughout the lifecycle.

Qualifications

  • Strong competence in functional safety, including risk assessment, safety concept development, and application of standards such as ISO 12100 and ISO 13849.
  • Experience with CRA and Data Act is meriting.
  • Broad system understanding across electrics, software, and control systems.
  • Experience from system design and safety-critical development.
  • Experience working in cross-functional environments.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and support risk assessments, develop safety concepts, and drive verification and validation activities.
  • Document functional safety processes and act as a specialist supporting cross-functional teams.
  • Contribute to competence development, consistency, and continuous improvement within safety-related development.
  • Align development practices with upcoming regulatory requirements, including CRA and Data Act.
  • Influence technical solutions and ensure safety is integrated throughout the product lifecycle.

Your Mission

As a Functional Safety Engineer, you play a key role in developing and supporting safety-related functions across our systems. You ensure compliance with applicable standards and legal requirements, contributing to robust, reliable, and high-quality solutions.

You lead and support risk assessments, develop safety concepts, and drive verification and validation activities. In addition, you are responsible for documenting functional safety processes and act as a specialist supporting cross-functional teams within the product line. You actively contribute to competence development, consistency, and continuous improvement within safety-related development. The role may also take a leading part in our work to fulfil upcoming regulatory requirements, including the Cyber Resilience Act (CRA) and the Data Act, ensuring that our products and development practices align with new compliance expectations.

In this role, you collaborate closely across disciplines, influencing technical solutions and ensuring that safety is integrated throughout the product lifecycle.
