Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a seasoned Financial Accountant to manage day-to-day accounting, ensure Swedish statutory reporting, and lead audits. The role covers internal control, budgeting alignment, and donor reporting across Europe.

Requirements include a degree in accounting/finance, 3+ years of experience, fluency in Swedish and English, and NetSuite or ERP proficiency. This position focuses on compliance, reporting, and strategic finance support.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• At least 3 years of relevant accounting and financial reporting experience.
• Strong knowledge of Swedish accounting regulations and Årsredovisningslagen.
• Advanced Excel skills and ERP systems proficiency, including NetSuite.
• Fluency in Swedish and English, written and spoken.

Responsibilities

• Own day-to-day accounting: payables, receivables, reconciliations, accruals, GL.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports per Swedish standards.
• Oversee year-end closing (Årsbokslut) and Årsredovisning.
• Handle tax filings and compliance with Swedish requirements.
• Lead external audits and donor audits when required.
• Maintain financial controls, routines, and documentation.
• Review forecasts and variance analyses prepared by the Project Controller.
• Ensure alignment between accounting records, budgets, and donor reporting.
• Provide financial guidance to non-finance colleagues across Europe.
• Support the Director of Finance and Operations on strategic initiatives.

• Monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting in line with Swedish accounting standards
• Year-end closing (Årsbokslut) and statutory annual report (Årsredovisning)
• Tax filings and compliance with Swedish statutory requirements
• Lead the external audit process and donor audits when required
• Maintain financial controls, routines, and supporting documentation
• Review and validate financial reporting, forecasts, and variance analysis prepared by the Project Controller
• Ensure alignment between accounting records, budgets, and donor reporting
• Provide financial guidance and training to non-finance colleagues across Europe
• Support the Director of Finance and Operations on strategic planning and finance initiatives

Requirements

• A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field
• At least 3 years of relevant experience in accounting, financial reporting, and financial analysis
• Strong knowledge of Swedish accounting regulations, tax legislation, and statutory reporting requirements (Årsredovisningslagen)
• Advanced Excel skills and strong systems proficiency
• Fluency in both Swedish and English, written and spoken
• Experience from an NGO, non-profit, or international organisation is highly desirable
• Experience working with grants, donor reporting, and restricted funding environments
• Experience working with ERP systems; NetSuite experience is considered a strong advantage
