Ericsson GmbH in Stockholm seeks a Mechanical Design Engineer to join our global team designing 5G/6G telecom equipment enclosures using Creo, delivering robust, lightweight solutions and collaborating across Thermal, PCB, Industrial Design and external suppliers. You will participate in pre-development studies and development projects aimed at industry-leading products.

The role requires hands-on CAD work, strong ownership, and fluency in English; experience with die casting and injection

Qualifications

  • Bachelor or Master’s degree in Mechanical Design or related field.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills, with ability to share learnings.
  • Proficient in Creo for mechanical design of enclosures.
  • Experience with die casting and injection molding design is valued.
  • Experience with structural simulations (static, shock, vibration) and thermal design.

Responsibilities

  • Design mechanical enclosures for 5G/6G telecom equipment using Creo.
  • Ensure top-tier robustness, cost efficiency, and high technology density.
  • Engage in pre-development studies and cross-disciplinary projects.
  • Collaborate with Thermal, Interconnect, PCB Assembly, Industrial Design and suppliers.
  • Work globally within cross-disciplinary design teams and with internal/external partners.

Join our TeamAbout this opportunity:We are strengthening our team within Mechanical Design and are looking for next generation creative engineers who will make sure we stay technology leaders in the telecom industry. As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you are a member of a mechanical design team and participate in the design of Ericsson future products, like 5G and 6G radios. We develop an increasing number of products where every generation delivers improved value to our customers, with high demands on quality and robustness in harsh outdoor environments. Our solutions must be cost efficient and deliver top performance with regard to technology density (small and lightweight), usability, quality and sustainability.In your role you will participate in pre-development activities where we study overall and detailed aspects of technology to come and as well be a member of product development projects aiming at a successful product to offer our customers. Some of your responsibilities will be performed individually, but most of them will be in cross-disciplinary teams both locally and globally. You typically interact with other technical disciplines such as Thermal, Interconnect, Printed Board Assembly, Industrial Design as well as mechanical suppliers/partners and Ericsson’s global production organization.What you will do:Mechanical design, using MCAD tool Creo, of 5G & 6G Telecom Equipment Enclosures (mainly Radio products) with typical components made by aluminum die casting, plastic injection molding and sheet metalDeliver designs that are top performing with regards to in-field robustness, cost efficiency, high technology density, electro-mechanical design, usability, modularity, quality and sustainabilityPre-development work to secure technical leadership with a 2-5 year horizonExecution development project work aiming to achieve the best products to our global customersIndividual tasks as well as interaction in cross disciplinary design teams, both locally + globally and internally + externallyThe skills you bring:Bachelor or Master´s Degree within Mechanical Design, product development or other relevant fieldTeam working skills and eager to share learnings and insights with colleaguesGood communicator, can express yourself fluently in English both orally and in writingSelf-driven, with strong ownership of tasks and a proactive approach to finding new solutionsMCAD tool experience, preferably CreoGenuine interest in product development and mechanical engineering, preferably with experience in die casting / injection molding designCompetence within structural simulations such as static stress/deformation, shock, impact, drop, vibration, preferably within AnsysExperience within some of the area’s: structural mechanical simulations, generative AI designs, electro-mechanical design, thermal design, usability (user friendly / easy installation), design for manufacturing/assembly, sustainability in mechanical designWhy join Ericsson?At Ericsson, you´ll have an outstanding opportunity.
