Job summary

IKEA Gruppe is seeking an Enterprise Architect to lead the strategic technology landscape across the organisation. You will partner with senior stakeholders to shape architecture across Procurement, Finance, Tax, Real Estate, Strategy and People solutions, and to drive digital transformation at scale.

The role requires senior leadership experience, a track record of delivering internet-scale architectures, and the ability to align technology with business strategy in a global retail context.

To be successful as an Enterprise Architect, you have proven advanced experience in information technology, computer science or equivalent. You have experience in leading business transformative change, preferably in a retail environment with an omni-channel context. We believe you have a minimum of 5 years of experience from product and engineering organisations in a leading position and a minimum of 10 years of experience in building internet-facing distributed systems. Likewise, a proven Enterprise Architecture responsibility stretching across larger areas in a company with global stretch and worked with senior leadership.

  • Drive and influence common purpose with senior stakeholders up to board level
  • Work outcome-led and drive architecture change for a domain setting its strategic direction managing trade-offs with a common purpose
  • Extensive knowledge in developing architectures for massive internet scale
  • Solve deep technical problems and with extensive digital transformation experience, drive the needed architecture shift to meet digital opportunities and enable new business models
  • Deep knowledge of Enterprise Architecture, omnichannel and retailing from both a business and technology perspective
  • Lead and motivate the team and change across the organisation
  • Vast experience in leading product engineering and architecture teams
  • Vast experience in Procurement, Tax, Finance, Real Estate, Strategy & Business Planning, Safeguarding and People solutions
  • Deep knowledge and experience in retail landscape design and various technologies for a digitalised business, integrating with retail ecosystems and an operational backbone
  • Experience in the SAP platform and integrated ecosystem

As a person, you are a good collaborator, have strong leadership skills – able to actively lead and drive architecture work and collaborate with diverse senior stakeholders. You pay attention to detail and actively acquire new knowledge, skills and champion new methods to improve performance in deliveries. You possess knowledge across a range of different technology stacks, ideally applied within a retail sector, and can change direction based on new ideas, approaches and strategies.

Your responsibilities

As an Enterprise Architect, you are part of the Enterprise Architecture leadership team and will be part of developing the technology landscape across IKEA and setting the course with strategic direction, principles and standards that enable guidance for the organisation. You will have responsibility for the Business Support domain, covering Procurement, Finance, Tax, Real Estate, Strategy & Business Planning, Safeguarding and People with its architecture and people manage a team of Technology Architects.

Your personality allows you to manage a diverse set of senior stakeholders up to board level to ensure reaching both short- and long-term goals. As part of Enterprise Architecture, your objective is always to serve what is best for the totality.

In this role you are:

  • Responsible for defining the strategic architecture, legacy coexistence and where capabilities should be implemented to ensure end-to-end flows and avoid costs in duplicate implementations
  • Lead and develop the strategic architecture perspective on roadmap and prioritizations of the domain work and its consequences in order to reach the company’s strategic outcomes
  • Drive and develop the Enterprise Architecture practices and apply the architecture guardrails through the product and engineering teams in order to empower them at scale
  • Drive, lead and resolve the big and hard problems that are common across teams in the IKEA value chain
  • Resolve architecture topics in significant landscape changes affecting the sub-domain you are responsible for
  • Lead, inspire, develop and manage co‑workers in order to secure a high‑performing team and promote growth
  • Partner with Retail, Group and Digital leaders such as Product, Engineering, Data and Digital Experience leaders to drive transformative change to meet the strategic outcomes
  • It is preferred to have experience in a digital retailing environment in omni‑channel context
