Job summary

TV4 is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead teams in Engineering Platform in Stockholm. You will coach and develop engineers, set direction, and collaborate with TV4 teams to reduce friction and accelerate platform-driven delivery.

The role emphasizes balancing exploration with reliability, guiding architecture decisions, and shaping how the platform evolves as the area grows.

Job description

At TV4, our engineers build and operate the technology behind TV4 Play and MTV Katsomo, used by millions of people every week. Engineering Platform builds the shared foundation that our engineering teams use to build, ship and operate software. Our users are not primarily viewers. They are the roughly 100 engineers across TV4 who depend on us to make good engineering easier.

We are now looking for a Engineering Manager to lead teams in Engineering Platform at a time when both the platform and the way software is built are changing.

What We Are Building

Engineering Platform is currently organised around two areas:

• Cloud Infrastructure and Internal Developer Platform. Our cloud platform is built around AWS, Kubernetes and infrastructure as code. We are moving more shared capabilities into the platform, with clearer abstractions and self-service, without taking ownership away from the teams running the software.
• Agentic Platform. AI-assisted development is already part of everyday engineering at TV4. We are now building an internal platform where agents can take on meaningful parts of the software development lifecycle: how they interact with our repositories, tools and systems, what context they need, how we evaluate their work and where human judgement is required.

Both areas are built as products. We work closely with the engineers who use them, decide what belongs in the platform and build capabilities that work across teams.

The structure is still taking shape. Part of this role is helping decide how it should evolve.

What You Will Do

You will lead one or more teams within Engineering Platform. You will:

• Build, coach and develop engineering teams, including senior engineers
• Create clear direction, priorities and conditions for the teams to succeed
• Work with engineering teams across TV4 to understand where the platform creates friction, and decide what to build next
• Balance exploration with reliability, especially where agents interact with systems that have real permissions and production consequences
• Act as a technical sparring partner in architecture and platform decisions
• Help shape how Engineering Platform is organised as the area develops

You will report to the Competence Lead for Engineering and work closely with the Area Lead for Core.

About You

You have led engineering teams and built environments where people take ownership, grow and deliver together.

You have a strong technical foundation and are comfortable discussing architecture, infrastructure and trade-offs with experienced engineers. You don't need to be the person writing the most code, but you need enough technical depth to set direction, ask the right questions and earn the trust of a senior team.

We are looking for:

• Experience leading engineering teams with people responsibility
• A background close to platform, infrastructure or developer tooling
• Experience treating internal platforms as products, with engineers as users
• A genuine interest in how AI and agentic development are changing software engineering, ideally from using coding agents in your own work
• The ability to create structure where it is missing, without detailed control
• Experience building teams over time, not only running existing ones
• Clear communication and the ability to build trust with both engineers and leaders

You are comfortable in an area where much is possible and not everything is defined.

The challenge

Engineering Platform serves two needs at the same time: a stable, self-service foundation for teams running production software, and a new platform where much is still being figured out. The first rewards predictability. The second rewards experimentation.

Leading well here means knowing which mode a problem calls for, and helping the teams do both well.
