Job summary

Nordiska is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead and develop engineers, combining people leadership with technical delivery across product verticals and the internal platform. You will ensure teams have the skills, capacity and clarity to deliver, while aligning with product priorities and platform strategy.

In this role you will coach, recruit and onboard, and collaborate with product leaders to balance immediate needs with long-term maintainability in a bank-driven environment.

• Experience in financial services is a plus.

About the Role

As an Engineering Manager, you will lead and develop engineers, creating the conditions for people to do their best work. You will combine people leadership with technical understanding and a clear focus on delivery.
Our engineering organisation works in a matrix, with engineers contributing to teams across product verticals and our internal product platform. The platform provides shared capabilities that enable the verticals to build and scale their products, making collaboration across teams an essential part of the role.
You will be responsible for people development and engineering capability, working closely with product leaders who guide priorities and roadmaps within the verticals and the platform. Together, you will ensure that teams have the skills, capacity and clarity to deliver.
You will help connect the needs of individual verticals with the development of shared platform capabilities, making dependencies and trade-offs clear. Alongside other engineering and technical leaders, you will strengthen common practices and support decisions that balance product delivery with the long-term development of the platform.
Throughout, you will help teams move forward with the security, reliability and quality expected of a bank.

We believe that you have:

• Experience managing software engineers, including coaching, performance management and professional development.
• A background in software engineering and sound judgement in discussions about architecture, quality and operations.
• Experience helping teams deliver and maintain software in production.
• Experience collaborating across product and engineering, ideally in an organisation with multiple product teams and a shared platform.
• The ability to connect technical priorities with customer and business outcomes.
• Strong communication skills in English and experience collaborating across technical and business teams.
• Experience in financial services or another regulated environment is an advantage.
