We’re Hiring: Senior Embedded Software Application Engineer – Engine Control Systems | MATLAB/Simulink

Hykmann Global Business Solutions AB is looking for an experienced Senior Embedded Software Application Engineer for a consulting opportunity in the automotive and powertrain technology sector.

About the Role

You will work with an experienced engineering team responsible for designing, implementing, and verifying control functionality for combustion engines.

Your main focus will be developing new control strategies for future engine concepts and implementing robust software solutions in Electronic Control Units (ECUs) for production. You will collaborate closely with hardware engineers and specialists in calibration and optimisation across an international engineering environment.

The role covers the complete development lifecycle, including advanced engineering, industrialisation, maintenance, and quality improvements.

• Design and implement control strategies for embedded engine control systems.

• Model and implement control functionality using MATLAB, Simulink, and TargetLink.

Required Skills & Experience

• Master's degree in Mechatronics or a related technical field.
• Strong understanding of control theory, control-system modelling, and embedded software.
• Experience designing and implementing control strategies in embedded control systems.
• Practical knowledge of MATLAB and Simulink.
• Experience or familiarity with TargetLink and model-based software development.
• Understanding of ECU software implementation and verification.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Good spoken and written English.
• Ability to work effectively in small, agile teams within an international engineering environment.

Nice to Have

• Experience developing embedded software for combustion engines or powertrain systems.
• Experience with TargetLink-based code generation and model-based development workflows.
