Job summary

Stockholm University invites applications for a Lab Operations Manager (9 months) within the Centre for Palaeogenetics. You will optimize and standardize workflows for high-throughput eDNA extraction and sequencing, implement LIMS, and develop SOPs across the full sample processing pipeline.

The role emphasizes quality control, documentation, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to ensure efficient, traceable operations and data delivery.

Qualifications

• Extensive practical experience in molecular or cellular biology laboratory methods.
• Experience developing, optimizing, standardizing, and troubleshooting laboratory workflows and protocols.
• Experience implementing and managing LIMS or other laboratory data management systems.
• Experience developing and maintaining SOPs, laboratory documentation, and quality management systems.
• Structured approach to sample handling, documentation, QC, and QA.

Responsibilities

• Establish and implement an LIMS for sample registration, metadata management, labeling, and sequencing data management.
• Develop SOPs covering the full laboratory workflow from field sampling to data delivery.
• Optimize protocols for high-throughput eDNA extraction, library prep, and sequencing.
• Evaluate opportunities for efficiency and cost reduction, automation, and better use of consumables.
• Establish QC/QA procedures and documentation for robust workflows.
• Evaluate, test, and implement new laboratory methods, technologies, or automation solutions.
