About the research project

Your major responsibility as a PhD student is to pursue your own doctoral studies related to the project. The major goal of the project is to synthesize new battery materials and develop sustainable electrode manufacturing process. You will be involved in collaboration projects with academic and industrial partners. To achieve the goal, you need to design and perform experiments in different labs. You also need to develop hands‑on skills to fabricate high-performance battery. You are expected to develop your own scientific concepts and communicate the results of your research verbally and in writing.

Conduct research on battery materials synthesis and electrode manufacturing.

Design and perform experiments in various laboratories.

Develop scientific concepts and communicate results both verbally and in written form.

Collaborate with academic and industrial partners.

Qualifications and experience
  • Must hold a Master’s degree of 120 credits in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or Physics (or a Master’s of 60 credits). For students with education earned outside of Sweden, a four-year Bachelor’s degree is accepted.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Experience in material synthesis and characterization.
  • Personal competencies (e.g., social skills, collaboration enjoyment).
  • Experience in fabrication of lithium‑ion batteries.
  • Ability to develop scientific concepts and communicate results verbally and in writing.
  • Experience with teaching undergraduate courses or performing duties equivalent to 20 percent of working hours.
  • Experience in synthesis of energy storage materials and assembling batteries for performance evaluation.
Contract terms
  • The Doctoral student positions are fully funded from start.
  • Fixed-term appointment of four years, extendable to five years if teaching up to 20%.
  • Starting salary of 35,725 SEK per month (valid from May 2026).
  • Doctoral studies require physical presence throughout the entire study period; a valid residence permit must be presented by study start date, otherwise admission may be withdrawn.
