Karlstad University is offering a doctoral student position in geodetic surveying with GNSS, starting 15 August 2026, as part of the PhD program in Geodesy and Geoinformatics. The project “Efficiency Improvement of Track Measurements” is funded by the Swedish Transport Administration. The main goal is to design and evaluate GNSS measurement methods that satisfy the requirements for determining track position.
Students will be based at the Department of Land Surveying – Property Science and Geodesy and collaborate closely with RISE and the Swedish Transport Administration.
Only candidates admitted to postgraduate education may be employed as a PhD student. Employment is limited to the duration of full‑time doctoral education (max. four years). A PhD student may be employed for up to one year, with possible renewal for up to two years thereafter. Salary is based on KTH’s doctoral student salary agreement. Employees receive the usual benefits.
