Since its founding in 1827, the KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm has grown to become one of Europe’s leading technical and engineering universities. The doctoral project focuses on Space‑Air‑Ground Integrated Networks (SAGIN) for low‑latency, high‑capacity communication using low‑Earth‑orbit satellite constellations. Detailed study of architectural concepts and AI frameworks will advance reliable, low‑latency communication across satellite mesh networks.
Responsibilities include the development of architectural concepts and AI frameworks for satellite mesh networks, optimisation of thousands of dynamic communication nodes, and application of satellite communication theory, network optimisation and machine learning methods. The research is highly theoretical and algorithmic.

In addition to academic criteria, applicants are assessed on: independent work, collaboration, professionalism, analytical skills, and effective communication in English.
Information regarding admission and employment: Only those admitted to postgraduate education may be employed as a doctoral student. The total employment period may not exceed the full‑time doctoral education period of four years. An employed doctoral student may, to a limited extent (maximum 20%), perform certain tasks within their role, e.g. training and administration. The position is initially for one year and may be renewed for up to two years at a time.
