KTH Royal Institute of Technology is offering a doctoral student position in Fluorescence-based Biomolecular Spectroscopy/Imaging in Stockholm. The role involves developing innovative imaging methods for biomedical research with hands-on work in a collaborative environment.

This doctoral position will be carried out in the Experimental Biomolecular Physics group, Department of Applied Physics at KTH Royal Institute of Technology. The research focuses on fluorescence-based ultrasensitive and super‑resolution imaging and spectroscopy techniques for molecular and cellular studies, method development and application to fundamental biophysics and clinical contexts.
The aim is to develop a new method that uses fluorescence blinking to monitor biomedically relevant cellular conditions. The project is highly interdisciplinary and will involve experimental work (optics, photonics, spectroscopy, imaging, chemistry, cell and molecular biology) as well as theoretical work (modeling, data acquisition and programming). Collaboration with biomedical research groups is also part of the project.
Only candidates admitted to postgraduate education may be employed as a doctoral student. The employment period corresponds to full‑time doctoral education and may last up to four years, with a maximum of one year per new appointment and renewal for up to two further years. The position is contracted as full time, 100% FTE, in Stockholm. Monthly salary follows KTH’s doctoral student salary agreement.
