Job summary

Ovation Search is seeking an experienced Project Controls Lead in Sweden to own controls across major data centre developments, with travel to Norway and other sites. Initially focused on planning and scheduling, the role will expand to cost, risk, change, forecasting and reporting, shaping a scalable controls function within a Nordic portfolio.

Qualifications

• Significant experience in project controls, planning or scheduling on large data centre or mission critical projects.
• Experience as Lead Scheduler, Planning Lead, Project Controls Manager or similar.
• Advanced Primavera P6 and/or Safran experience with cost, risk, forecasting and reporting.
• Must be based in Sweden or willing to relocate.

One of the Nordics’ most ambitious emerging data centre businesses is entering a significant new phase of growth.

Founded by six highly respected leaders from across the Nordic data centre industry, the business has now secured funding to support its next stage of development, with an ambitious pipeline of opportunities progressing across the region.

As the business continues to build its senior delivery capability, we are looking for an experienced Project Controls Lead, based in Sweden (with travel to Norway and other sites), to take ownership of project controls across major data centre developments and help build the function as the organisation scales.

This is an opportunity to join at a genuinely formative point.

Initially, there will be a strong focus on planning and scheduling, establishing robust programmes, challenging delivery schedules and providing the visibility needed to drive successful project execution.

However, the opportunity is considerably broader than that.

You will have the opportunity to help shape and develop the wider project controls capability, bringing together planning, cost, risk, change, forecasting and reporting to create a consistent controls framework across the business and its growing Nordic portfolio.

Working closely with Project Directors, the founders and wider leadership team, you will also become involved early in preconstruction, bids and tenders, helping assess programmes, delivery strategies, risk and project viability before projects move into execution.

Key Responsibilities

• Take ownership of project controls across major data centre developments.
• Lead the development, management and challenge of detailed project programmes and integrated master schedules.
• Establish project controls processes, standards, reporting and governance as the business grows.
• Provide clear visibility of programme performance, critical path, milestones, dependencies and emerging risks.
• Work closely with Project Directors and delivery teams to identify delays, constraints and recovery strategies.
• Challenge contractor and subcontractor programmes and ensure alignment with the overall project schedule.
• Develop the wider controls capability across cost, forecasting, risk, change and reporting.
• Support preconstruction, bids and tenders with programme development, sequencing, risk analysis and delivery planning.
• Work across CSA, MEP, procurement, commercial and commissioning teams to ensure fully integrated project controls.
• Help build and develop the project controls team as the portfolio expands.
• Provide clear, accurate reporting and insight to senior leadership and key project stakeholders.

What We’re Looking For

You will need significant experience within project controls, planning or scheduling on large scale data centre or mission critical projects, with a strong understanding of complex construction programmes and how they translate into successful project delivery.

You may currently be operating as a Lead Scheduler, Planning Lead, Project Controls Manager or Project Controls Lead, but importantly, you will be looking for the opportunity to take on broader ownership and help build a function.

Strong planning and scheduling capability is essential, ideally with advanced experience of Primavera P6 and/or Safran, alongside an understanding of cost, risk, change, forecasting and project reporting.

You will be commercially aware, comfortable challenging senior contractors and project stakeholders, and able to turn complex project information into clear insight for leadership.

Just as importantly, this role will suit somebody who wants to build, shape and influence, rather than simply inherit an established controls function.

You will need to be based in Sweden, or genuinely able to relocate.
