Job summary

Spotify is seeking a Director of Engineering to lead the Conversation Product Area, owning the Agent Engine, evaluation infrastructure, and related AI platforms at scale. You’ll co-lead with product and manage ~70 engineers across ~9 teams, guiding architecture decisions, delivery, and cross-functional collaboration with senior leaders.

The role focuses on migrating to a shared agent runtime and shaping a high-velocity engineering culture.

Qualifications

• You are deeply technical, able to evaluate architecture proposals and contribute technically at senior levels.
• Experience running large engineering organizations through platform consolidations, migrations, or evolutions.
• Proven ability to build strong, nimble teams and scale management structures.

Responsibilities

• Own engineering execution and technical direction for the Conversation Product Area, including Agent Engine, evaluation infrastructure, Search platform, and AI Voice platform (Speak).
• Co-lead the Product Area in a paired product/engineering model with a product counterpart.
• Manage a team of ~70 engineers and develop the EM layer across ~9 teams, delivering across the product area.
