Job summary

Lund University in Sweden invites applications for a Detector Software Engineer to join the Scientific Data group at MAX IV beamlines, focusing on integration, commissioning, and support of detectors and DAQ software.

You will work with photon-counting and sCMOS detectors, maintain high-performance software in Python/C++/Rust on Linux, collaborate with beamline scientists, and contribute to the MAX IV edge-cloud data ecosystem.

Qualifications

• Degree in physics, engineering, computer science or equivalent qualifications or experience.
• Experience with detectors for scientific applications and understanding of operating principles.
• Software development and data analysis in Python, C++, Rust in a Linux environment.

Responsibilities

• Integrate detectors into control and DAQ pipelines and support operation.
• Liaise with detector suppliers, troubleshoot new and existing detectors, follow up on fixes and updates.
• Contribute to development of the underlying general DAQ system.
• Understand beam line detector needs and advise during detector procurement.
• Carry out Site Acceptance Tests and performance/characterization tests of detectors.
• Produce documentation for the support of installed detector systems.
