Job summary

KPIT in Gothenburg seeks a Durability Engineer to lead sensor development for wheel suspension and chassis components. You will perform fatigue, stress, and strain analyses, guiding sensor placement and measurement integrity throughout the development lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of Wheel Suspension Design and vehicle chassis systems.
• Proven experience within the durability engineering domain, including fatigue, stress, and strain analysis.
• Experience with durability assessment and service life prediction of automotive components.
• Proficiency in CAE tools such as: Ansa, Abaqus, nCode
• Experience using CATIA for CAD modeling and design support.
• Understanding of sensor design principles, particularly strain gauge applications and calibration methodologies.
• Broad knowledge of the vehicle development and design process.
• Experience creating technical requirements, engineering specifications, and development guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and application of sensors, primarily strain gauges, for vehicle and test rig force measurement.
• Manage the complete sensor development lifecycle, including requirement gathering, load definition, sensor design, calibration planning, and validation.
• Perform stress and strain analyses to optimize sensor placement and ensure measurement accuracy and reliability.
• Conduct durability analyses of wheel suspension systems and chassis components using CAE methodologies.
• Develop and execute simulations to predict component and system fatigue life under operational conditions.
• Provide technical recommendations to engineering and design teams to improve vehicle durability and performance.
• Define, develop, and maintain durability requirements, targets, and technical guidelines.
• Support product development programs with simulation results, engineering assessments, and durability expertise.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams across design, CAE, testing, and product development organizations.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of durability analysis methods, sensor technologies, and engineering processes.
