Job summary

Magma Math in Stockholm is seeking a hands-on AI Engineer / Data Scientist to own and ship AI features, prototype fast, deploy models to production, and drive improvements in math learning for millions of students.

As part of a small, ambitious team, you will work with data at scale, build AI-powered products, and collaborate with product and engineering to move fast while maintaining quality and impact in the classroom.

The Role

We are looking for builders that want to work with large data sets, build AI-powered products and ship things that make a real difference for teachers and students. In this role you will take large ownership of Magma's AI initiatives, from research and prototyping to production and iteration, working together with product and engineering.

Your Work Will Span Across Areas Such As

• Digging into data, building models, pipelines and AI-powered systems
• Building AI agents and agentic workflows
• Prototyping quickly and iterating based on real classroom feedback and measurable impact
• Deploying and monitoring models in production, improving quality, speed and reliability over time
• Leverage AI to scale both the product and the business
• Working closely with the team to define what "great" looks like for AI in education, and pushing the product forward fast
• This is a high-ownership role where you'll be expected to move quickly, explore new ideas, and turn the best ones into real product improvements that are used by students every day

Requirements

• Coding skills that enable you to build stuff
• Strong technical skills
• Hands-on experience vibe coding with AI tools
• Fluent in English

• AI & LLMs: multiple LLM providers, Langfuse for evaluation and observability
• Infrastructure: AWS
• AI development: Claude Code, Cursor and other AI-native development tools
