Job summary

ULTEUM is seeking an experienced Cost Controller to lead cost management on industrial projects in Sweden. You will own cost control across multiple work packages, produce timely reports, and collaborate with PM, procurement and finance to forecast cash flow.

The role requires strong skills in CBS/WBS, cost reporting, forecasting and variance analysis, plus hands-on use of Oracle Primavera Unifier and ERP tools.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of cost control on industrial projects, steel sector preferred.
  • Experience in an industrial construction environment (contractor/consultant or client-side).
  • Hands-on Oracle Primavera Unifier experience with cost sheets, commitments, change management & reporting.
  • Strong cost reporting, forecasting and variance analysis capabilities.
  • Proficiency with project controls tools and Excel; ERP familiarity is a plus.
  • Ability to engage multiple stakeholders and communicate across PM, procurement and finance.

Responsibilities

  • Take full ownership of cost control across one or more work packages — including budgets, forecasts, commitments, and actuals.
  • Build and maintain CBS/WBS in line with a construction project controls framework.
  • Review and validate POs, contracts, change orders, and invoices against budget and progress.
  • Produce monthly cost reports with cost-to-complete projections, deviations, trends, and risk registers.
  • Partner with PM, procurement, and finance on cashflow forecasting and payment planning.
  • Manage cost deviations, flag variances early, test assumptions, and drive mitigations.
  • Support change management from a cost angle: estimating, validating, documenting, approvals.
  • Collaborate with planning to keep cost and progress aligned using earned value where applicable.
  • Ensure cost reporting meets governance standards and client requirements.
  • Own cost data within Oracle Primavera Unifier, keeping cost sheets, commitments, and workflows accurate.

Job description

Key Responsibilities
  • Take full ownership of cost control across one or more work packages — covering budgets, forecasts, commitments, and actuals.
  • Build and maintain cost breakdown structures (CBS/WBS) in line with a construction project controls framework.
  • Review and validate purchase orders, contracts, change orders, and invoices against budget and physical progress.
  • Produce monthly cost reports, including cost-to-complete projections, deviation analysis, trend tracking, and risk/opportunity registers.
  • Partner with project management, procurement, and finance on cashflow forecasting and payment planning.
  • Proactively manage cost deviations — flagging variances early, testing assumptions, and driving mitigation actions.
  • Support the change management process from a cost angle: estimating, validating, documenting, and securing approvals.
  • Work closely with planning/scheduling to keep cost and progress aligned (using earned value or progress-based measurement where applicable).
  • Ensure all cost reporting meets both internal governance standards and client requirements.
  • Own cost data within Oracle Primavera Unifier, keeping cost sheets, commitments, and change management workflows accurate and up to date.
Required Experience & Skills
  • 5+ years of cost control experience on industrial projects (steel sector experience strongly preferred).
  • Demonstrated track record within an industrial construction environment (contractor/consultant or client-side).
  • Required: hands-on experience with Oracle Primavera Unifier, including cost sheets, commitment management, change management, and reporting modules.
  • Strong command of cost reporting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
  • Proficient in project controls tools and Excel; familiarity with ERP systems (SAP or similar) is a plus.
  • Skilled at engaging multiple stakeholders and communicating clearly across PM, procurement, and finance teams.
  • Detail-driven and structured, with the confidence to question cost inputs when something doesn't add up.
