The Ripple Effect in Stockholm is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to own backend systems and infrastructure. You will choose Python frameworks (Django, FastAPI or Flask) to suit each project, balancing startup speed with enterprise reliability.
You’ll manage CI/CD, containers and infrastructure as code on GCP or AWS, and you’ll push AI features into real products while maintaining quality. Collaboration with architects, DevOps, and frontend specialists is key.
Some developers love building something new. Others love keeping big systems fast and stable. This role is for the one who gets restless doing only one of them.
Our client is a tech consultancy in Stockholm and is looking for a backend or full-stack engineer to join. One project starts as a startup's whiteboard sketch with a deadline attached. The next is an enterprise platform where a bad deploy ends up in someone's quarterly report. You'll own the backend and the infrastructure for both.
At many consultancies, you get placed with a client and rarely see your colleagues again. This one works the other way. The office is busy most days, and shared lunches, after-work evenings, and hackathons keep people connected between and during assignments.
The startup stretches: a blank repo, a small team and a product that has to exist by spring. You pick the framework, set up the pipeline and ship the first version.
The enterprise stretches: an existing platform, real traffic and stakeholders who care a lot about uptime. You find the bottlenecks, harden the infrastructure and help the client's own team move faster.
Every day in between: AI in your toolbox, colleagues who like talking shop, and a lunch table that fills up.
Build the engine. Design backend systems in Python, and choose Django, FastAPI or Flask because the project needs it, not out of habit.
Own the road to production. CI/CD, containers and infrastructure as code on GCP or AWS. If it ships, you had a hand in how.
Make AI earn its place. Put AI features into real products, and use AI tools every day without letting quality slip.
Raise the bar together. Work with architects, DevOps engineers and frontend specialists who debate good design because they care about it.
You probably started by taking something apart just to see how it worked. Somewhere along the way Python became your tool of choice, and you discovered you like the infrastructure under the code almost as much as the code itself.
You'd probably describe yourself as:
Seasoned: [5+] years building backend or fullstack systems. Enough to have strong opinions, and to know when to drop them.
A natural context-switcher: you've worked as a consultant or across several projects, and a new codebase excites you more than it scares you.
Curious about the why: you want to know what the code is for and what value it creates, not only how it's written.
AI-practical: coding assistants and agents are part of your daily work, and [you've shipped AI features to production].
Tech skills:
Python, with production experience in Django, FastAPI or Flask
GCP or AWS
Docker and Kubernetes
Terraform or similar infrastructure as code
CI/CD pipelines you've built and run yourself
Bonus: React or Next.js, or experience building a product from scratch.
Language: fluent Swedish and English. Both are a must.
Buzzword bingo: Python, Django, FastAPI, Flask, GCP, AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, CI/CD, AI agents, React, Next.js
Range without job-hopping. Startup speed one year, enterprise scale the next, same employer. Consulting life excites you, and you understand the value of communication.
A consultancy that sticks together. Even when you're placed with a client, you're part of a team that meets up regularly, over lunch, after work and at hackathons. You're never just a name on a staffing list.
Room to grow. A dedicated education budget and a clear path forward.
Flexibility when you need it. Hybrid work in Stockholm, depending on what each client allows.
The client is confidential for now, so the full picture comes in a first, discreet conversation.
Our client does not provide visa sponsorship or relocation support.
Applicants must already have a permanent and independent right to work in Sweden and reside in the Stockholm area.
