Job summary

ALTEN is seeking a skilled Component Engineer to join our powertrain-focused assignments in Sweden. You will own valve train or FEAD components, collaborating with design, suppliers, testing, manufacturing and quality teams to drive development across the product lifecycle.

You will contribute to robust powertrain solutions, define and follow up technical requirements, support testing and documentation, and continuously improve products and processes in a dynamic engineering environment.

Qualifications

• B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• Experience as Component Engineer, Design Engineer, or similar role.
• Experience in automotive or heavy vehicle industry.
• Experience in powertrain development.
• Proficient with Creo and KOLA.
• Fluent in English (written and spoken).

• Take technical ownership of components within the Valve Train or FEAD area
• Drive component development throughout the complete product lifecycle
• Define, review, and follow up technical requirements and specifications
• Collaborate closely with suppliers and internal stakeholders
• Support testing, verification, and validation activities

ALTEN is now looking for Component Engineers for assignments towards one of our clients within the heavy vehicle industry. In this role, you will work with the development and maintenance of powertrain components, focusing on either Valve Train or Front End Accessory Drive (FEAD) systems.

About the role

As a Component Engineer, you will be responsible for driving component‑related activities throughout the product development lifecycle. Working closely with design engineers, suppliers, testing teams, manufacturing, and quality organizations, you will contribute to developing robust and reliable powertrain solutions.

The role combines technical ownership with cross‑functional collaboration and offers the opportunity to work with advanced engineering challenges in a dynamic development environment.

Main responsibilities

• Take technical ownership of components within the Valve Train or FEAD area

We see that you have:

• B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
• Experience working as a Component Engineer, Design Engineer, or in a similar role
• Experience from the automotive or heavy vehicle industry
• Experience within powertrain development
• Experience working with Creo and KOLA
• Fluent in English, both written and spoken

Meritorious:

• Experience within engine development or Valve Train systems
• Experience with FEAD (Front End Accessory Drive) systems
