As aCompliance Engineer, you'll carry out essential advisory and standardisation work within the R&D Counter Balanced (CB) division. In this influential position, you will serve as the guiding voice on product safety, standards, and international legislations. Your expertise will guarantee that our development efforts are closely aligned with customer requirements, global regulatory compliance, and Kalmar’s long-term business strategies.
In this role you will report to the Head of process, support and testing and the location is Ljungby, Sweden.
Regulatory Monitoring:Monitor and identify which global standards, legislations, and other regulatory requirements affect Counter Balanced (CB) products.
Knowledge Integration:Ensure that active standards, legislative requirements, and safety protocols are fully understood and readily accessible to Chief Engineers, Principal Systems Engineers, and product design teams.
Safety Advocacy & Liaison: Serve as the primary technical contact, spokesperson, and ambassador for CB R&D, coordinating both internally and with external regulatory bodies regarding product safety standards.
Standards Development: Participate in national and international professional, industrial, and standardisation organizations to shape upcoming safety regulations and legislations.
NPD Compliance Support: Engage in early-stage concept investigations and support internal New Product Development (NPD) projects to secure compliance and prevent design bottlenecks.
Product Safety & Conformity Governance: Lead and chair the Product Safety Board for CB R&D, manage the regular development of the Product Safety Handbook, and take ownership of the declaration of conformity process to ensure organizational alignment.

Qualifications:B.Sc. or M.Sc. degree in a relevant engineering discipline, or similar comprehensive expertise gained through equivalent hands-on experience.
Compliance & Safety Expertise: Proven background in product safety and standards coordination, with strong analytical skills in interpreting, evaluating, and applying international standards and legislations.
Industry Experience: Demonstrated experience in a structured product development environment. Experience working with heavy mobile equipment or cargo handling machinery is considered a valuable asset.
Structured Approach: Excellent planning, organization, and structural capabilities, with the independence to lead complex tasks and manage documentation like the Product Safety Handbook.
Collaborative Mindset: A result-oriented mindset, an energetic approach to problem-solving, and a positive attitude. You have the ability to inspire trust, build strong relationships, and collaborate smoothly across diverse R&D functions.
Communication & Languages: Strong written and verbal communication skills in Swedish and English, with the communication skills needed to represent Kalmar confidently in national and international forums
