JOST Umeå AB is seeking a Product Compliance Engineer to join its R&D Lifecycle team and lead product regulatory compliance activities, with a strong focus on CE marking, the Machinery Directive, and the upcoming Machinery Regulation. The role is responsible for ensuring products meet legal, safety, and market access requirements across the EU and selected global markets.
Key Responsibilities
- Own and manage CE marking and product compliance activities.
- Interpret regulatory requirements and translate them into practical processes, methods, and documentation.
- Monitor changes in legislation, standards, and compliance requirements.
- Conduct regulatory assessments, risk analyses, and conformity evaluations.
- Ensure quality of technical documentation, risk assessments, and Declarations of Conformity.
- Support engineering and project teams throughout the product development lifecycle.
- Improve compliance processes, templates, checklists, and tools.
- Work closely with teams in design engineering, quality, testing, documentation, functional safety, and mechatronics.
- Coordinate with external testing and certification bodies when required.
Required Qualifications
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Product Development, or a related field.
- Proven experience with CE marking and product compliance.
- Strong knowledge of the Machinery Directive and familiarity with the upcoming Machinery Regulation.
- Experience in technical documentation, risk assessments, and regulatory compliance within product development.
- Ability to translate regulations into practical workflows and processes.
- Fluency in Swedish and English.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements outside the EU.
- Experience with D-FMEA and technical risk management.
- Background in functional safety, mechatronics, cybersecurity, hydraulics, or mobile machinery.
- Experience with PLM systems, CAE processes, and structured technical documentation.
- Experience working in international product development environments.
