Job summary

Swedbank in Sundbyberg seeks an experienced COBOL/Mainframe developer to maintain, enhance and modernize critical systems. You will contribute to reliable, high‑performing architectures in a fast-paced, collaborative setting.

You will join an Agile team, work with lending systems, and mentor others while driving continuous improvement and AI‑assisted tooling initiatives. Fluency in Swedish and English is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science or relevant experience.
• 10+ years of experience in system development & related tools.
• Proven track record in Cobol, SQL, DB2 coding.
• Experience with IBM Developer for z/OS (IDz) and Visual Studio.

• Develop and maintain stable solutions in an Agile scrum team.
• Collaborate with CFT teams in Lending and other groups.
• Mentor less experienced colleagues and reduce technical debt.

What is needed in this role:

• Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science or relevant experience
• 10+ years of experience in system development & related tools
• Proven track record within relevant programming language such as Mainframe, DB2, Cobol & SQL coding skills
• Experience working with modern development tools, including IBM Developer for z/OS (IDz) and Visual Studio
• Experience in analyzing and optimizing DB2 databases
• Strong interest in leveraging AI to enhance efficiency, optimize processes, and improve productivity.

• You are social and communicative both in written and in oral in both Swedish and English

It would be beneficial if you have/are:

• Hands-on experience with AI-assisted development tools, including Claude Code and similar solutions
• Full Stack & experience with product and loan systems is seen as a big advantage
• Experience with working with Lending system
• Experience of working agile
• Confident in leading interpretations of upcoming regulations and market standards.
• Experience in design and architecture as well as leading more complex initiatives is a big plus
• Experience from business analysis, functional & non-functional requirements and testing.
• Knowledge on lending processes and background preferably from the local branches or lending support
