Job summary

Playground Group is seeking a Backend Cloud Developer with a strong Go background to join our Swedish team in Stockholm. You will build internal services, CLIs, and developer platforms that accelerate client engineering across cloud providers.

The role emphasizes Go as the core language, with a focus on tooling, CI/CD pipelines, and AI-enabled workflows. You will collaborate closely with client engineers and maintain high-quality, scalable systems.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in software engineering / backend / cloud engineering.
• Go is the primary language and core skill.

• Familiarity with AI tooling and CLI tooling is a plus.
• Swedish and English fluency for client engagements.

We’re growing our team with a low-ego, collaborative, and backend-focused Cloud Developer who sees Golang as their home turf and Developer Experience (DevEx) as their main product. You are the force multiplier for client engineering teams: the connective tissue that builds internal tooling, CLI tools, microservices, and paved roads that allow everyone else to ship faster, safer, and with true engineering discipline, especially in an AI-accelerated dev world.

At heart, this is a developer-productivity role. On assignment, you are the one who elevates a client's entire engineering engine:

• Go as the core language: You'll build internal services, custom CLIs, operator tooling, and lightweight backends primarily written in Go. Of course, we realize that you probably enjoy other languages as well (could be Java, Python, Typescript, .NET etc.) and this role is not at all limited to Go, it just has to be a proven weapon of choise in your arsenal
• The Cloud is your substrate: You bridge code, infrastructure, and delivery pipelines (CI/CD, IaC) so that shipping code to AWS, Azure, or GCP feels effortless for the rest of the team
• DevEx in the AI Era: Client teams are shipping faster than ever with AI coding tools. Your job is to build the surrounding guardrails, testing harnesses, and Go-based tooling that keep that speed safe, reliable, and clean

You’re less about churning out standard end-user business logic, and more about eliminating friction, reducing toil, and building the high-speed infrastructure that other devs rely on daily.

What this role is (and is not)

What this role is:

• Primary Go/Golang Development: Designing and building fast, concurrent, and reliable internal services, CLI tools, libraries, and developer platforms
• Smoothing the path to production: Developing CI/CD, build pipelines, and paved roads that make shipping code fast, safe, and repeatable
• Elevating team velocity: Doing the architectural and connective work that acts as a force multiplier for whole engineering orgs
• Bringing discipline to AI workflow: Creating the harnesses, guardrails, and integrations that let teams leverage AI without introducing chaos

What this role is not:

• Not a "vanilla" feature dev: You won't be stuck in standard CRUD/backlog feature loops. Your product is the developer platform itself
• Not a frontend or pure Data/ML role: You consume and integrate AI services and cloud primitives
• You don't train ML models or build data pipelines as your core craft

Who are you?

Your temperament matters as much as your code. You’re a curious, low-ego builder who takes pride in system craftsmanship, writes clean and maintainable Go code, and communicates clearly.

Skills & Background:

• Go (Golang) is your primary language and home turf: You know its concurrency patterns, standard library, and ecosystem inside out.
• 5+ years in software engineering / backend / cloud engineering, with a genuine passion for building for builders
• Comfort or depth in at least one secondary modern language (e.g., Python, C#, Java, or TypeScript)
• Cloud & IaC experience: Solid foundation in AWS, Azure, or GCP, combined with Infrastructure as Code (Pulumi or Terraform preferred)
• Demonstrable engagement with AI tooling: Whether it’s building CLI wrappers around LLMs, using AI coding assistants in your workflow, or integrating AI SDKs into Go apps
• Fluency in Swedish and English (as client engagements are primarily conducted in Swedish)

Bonus: Kubernetes experience (managed or self-managed).
