Job summary

emagine is seeking a technically strong, energetic engineer to contribute across a modern frontend/backend stack. You will work on a globally used system for the sales ecosystem, collaborating with a 25-person team to evolve from legacy to proactive, value-driven maintenance.

Ideal candidates bring hands-on experience with TS/Node, .NET, Kafka, and AWS CDK, and are comfortable contributing across both backend and frontend components in a hybrid Stockholm workplace.

Qualifications

• Must be hands-on and proactive with strong coding skills.
• Experience in evolving legacy systems toward modern architectures.
• Background in .NET with move toward TS/Node is preferred.
• Familiarity with event-driven architectures (Kafka) and cloud services.

Job description

The team handles a system which is one of the most important systems in the global Sales eco-system in the company. They enable sales on a global scale, while adapting to local markets, serving and empowering thousands of sales representatives daily. We are a team of about 25 people working on making this happen. Our system is undergoing a transformative journey from legacy and reactive fire fighting with outdated processes and ways of working, to a more modern proactive, value and quality first approach. This is being done by improving the system wherever we make changes, in an evolutive maintenance fashion.

As an inspiring source of energy in our team, you will be expected to take initiatives and drive them, working as a part of the team to complete bigger initiatives, and work on bugs and smaller improvements across the application. We are looking for someone who can contribute to the team with energy, knowledge and experience, and also the ability to inspire others. Get-things-done mentality is key here in combination with a continuous improvements/evolutive maintenance mindset.

Our Backend stack consists of the following:

• APIs based on AWS Lambda and API Gateway, or AWS ECS containers and ALBs, written in TS/Node and .NET
• Databases range from MSSQL, PostgreSQL to MongoDB and DynamoDB, we see that our future is with PostgreSQL and DynamoDB
• Event-driven architecture using Kafka
• Legacy .NET 4.8 monolithic application
• Docker, Localstack and Testcontainers
• Everything runs on AWS and is deployed using AWS CDK
• Gitlab and Gitlab CI
• Agentic coding using OpenCode/Claude/Codex/OMP, Herdr etc

Our Frontend stack consists of the following:

• React
• SingleSPA micro-frontends
• Component library using Storybook
• Legacy Angular monolith (as a big microfrontend in SingleSPA)

Must have:

• Energetic and inspiring, someone who does not back down from a challenge. Someone leads the way by doing.
• Very hands-on, working with other team members to get things done
• Writing modern, testable and high quality code is a given
• Evolutive maintenance comes naturally to you (improve things when you touch them)

Nice to have:

• AWS (Serverless Lambda, DynamoDB, RDS, ECS, AWS CDK)
• Functional programming
• Effect.TS
• Docker

The profiles we are looking for has preferably a background within .Net but has moved more to TS/node. We strongly advocate for candidates who also has great experience of Kafka and event driven architecture.

Start of assignment is as soon as possible or 1 to 1,5 months notice

Workplace: Stockholm - 1-2 days per weeks on site.
