Job description

The Site WHS Officer will be responsible for partnering with a site operations team in a delivery station to execute company safety policies and ensure compliance with all applicable local and regional regulations. By leveraging lean principles and kaizens, you will lead continuous improvement initiatives to reduce conditional and ergonomic risks in our processes, ensuring a safe and healthful working environment for our Associates. A successful Site WHS Officer will demonstrate the ability to build trust and confidence with the Operations Team and inspire change through comprehensive risk assessments and safety data analysis.

The Site WHS Officer must be an effective communicator, sending clear, concise, and consistent messages both verbally and in writing. You will instruct and train Operations Leaders in Amazon WHS policies and assist site teams in incorporating safety standards. You will identify best practices and incorporate these into our standards to continuously improve safety.

The Site WHS Officer will possess excellent safety program knowledge, including environmental and ergonomic expertise, and demonstrate this when working with Operations.

The Site WHS Officer will be part of the site WHS team and report to the site WHS Manager. The role requires flexibility to work in shifts.

Candidates should have a thorough understanding of local/regional regulations and company policies.

Key Job Responsibilities

  1. Provide guidance and oversight to ensure compliance with all applicable Amazon WHS standards and policies.
  2. Measure site performance against safety requirements; identify and plan to address deficiencies.
  3. Deliver projects to Operations on time and with quality.
  4. Analyze safety metrics and incident trends to allocate resources effectively.
  5. Ensure proper incident investigation and closure of corrective and preventive actions.
  6. Perform safety audits to identify non-compliance issues.
  7. Implement solutions to eliminate risks and prevent injuries.
  8. Maintain audit records aligned with global WHS standards and local regulations.
  9. Audit workplace organization and associate behaviors to ensure training and auditing accuracy.
  10. Lead and mentor Safety Associates during peak periods.
  11. Engage with safety teams, associates, and leaders to seek improvement opportunities and communicate progress.
  12. Ensure safety training is conducted effectively and training records are maintained.
  13. Manage PPE inventory and ensure compliance.
  14. Implement best safety practices at the site.
  15. Implement PIT safety and yard safety systems.
  16. Ensure use of standard Work Permit System.
  17. Manage contractor safety processes.
  18. Coordinate safety training calendars and conduct trainings.
  19. Work with the facility team for preventive maintenance of fire and emergency equipment.
  20. Ensure fire fighting and first aid training requirements are met.

Basic Qualifications

  • WHS experience or qualifications
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • NEBOSH or IOSH certification
  • Good communication skills in English and Arabic
  • Availability to work flexible shifts including days, nights, and weekends

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience in safety and/or environmental programs in manufacturing, production, or service operations
  • Ability to analyze accident data and conduct hazard analyses
  • Experience in emergency response with First Aid and CPR certifications
  • Experience implementing lean principles and process improvements
  • Ability to adapt to fast-paced environments with changing circumstances
