Job description

DESCRIPTION

We’re looking for a talented OTR Safety WHS Officer to join our team. You’ll be passionate about partnering with the business to ensure WHS risks are managed. This is a new role, and you will be expected to drive our Amazon WHS culture with site leaders, embedding policies and ensuring compliance with local legislative obligations. Using lean principles and kaizens, you will lead continuous improvement to maintain a safe and healthy working environment for our Associates.

The OTR Safety WHS Officer must be an effective communicator, delivering clear and consistent messages verbally and in writing. You will instruct and train Operations Leaders on Amazon WHS policies and support site teams in applying safety standards. Your role includes identifying best practices and integrating them into our standards for continual safety improvements. Demonstrating excellent safety program knowledge is essential when working with Operations.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Provide WHS support to AMZL-Trans sites and On the Road teams within Saudi Arabia to ensure compliance with policies and regulations.
  2. Conduct vehicle safety audits to identify non-compliance and implement risk mitigation solutions.
  3. Ensure record-keeping practices and safety database entries meet global standards and local laws.
  4. Train and inform site teams about their responsibilities under safety policies, ensuring training quality and effectiveness.
  5. Act as the WHS Point of Contact for the WW Safety team & GRS, supporting safety improvement projects.
  6. Engage in collaborative health and safety projects across the site.
  7. Perform risk assessments related to WHS OTR processes.
  8. Provide safety advice and guidance to stakeholders.
  9. Develop and oversee local site WHS procedures aligned with Amazon Global Standards.
  10. Analyze safety metrics and incident trends to prioritize resource allocation.
  11. Guide the site team in road safety procedures and serve as OTR SME for site queries.
  12. Coordinate OTR incident reporting, tracking, and gap assessments.
  13. Lead OTR safety technology implementation and initiatives.
  14. Travel up to 50% and work flexibly in shifts.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s degree in occupational health and safety, engineering, or science, or a NEBOSH Diploma with an engineering/science degree.
  • At least 4 years of experience in OSH.
  • Good communication skills in English.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to travel 50% of the time and work shifts.
  • Previous road safety or driving school experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience in road safety or similar domains.
  • Strong communication, teamwork, analytical, judgment, and customer focus skills.
  • Ability to adapt to fast-paced environments and changing strategies.
  • Experience analyzing accident data, hazards, and conducting safety analyses.
  • Certification in First Aid and CPR.
  • Experience managing Worker’s Compensation cases.
  • Passion for safety.
