Job description

We’re looking for a talented OTR Safety WHS officer to join our team. You’ll be passionate about partnering with the business to ensure WHS risks are managed. This is a brand-new role, and we expect you to drive our Amazon WHS culture with site leaders, embedding policies and ensuring compliance with local legislative obligations. By leveraging lean principles and kaizens, you will lead continuous improvement to maintain a safe and healthy working environment for our Associates. A successful OTR Safety WHS officer will demonstrate the ability to build trust with the Operations Team and inspire change through risk assessments and safety data analysis.

The OTR Safety WHS officer must be an effective communicator, delivering clear, concise messages both verbally and in writing. You will instruct and train Operations Leaders on Amazon WHS policies and assist site teams in integrating safety standards. You will identify best practices and incorporate these into our standards for ongoing safety improvements. You should possess excellent safety program knowledge and demonstrate this when working with Operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide WHS support to AMZL-Trans sites and On the Road teams within Saudi Arabia, ensuring compliance with local regulations.
  • Conduct vehicle safety audits to identify non-compliance and implement solutions to mitigate risks.
  • Maintain accurate record-keeping and safety database entries aligned with global standards.
  • Ensure training is delivered effectively and site teams understand their responsibilities under policies.
  • Act as the WHS POC for the WW Safety team & GRS and support safety improvement projects.
  • Engage in health and safety projects across the site.
  • Complete risk assessments related to WHS OTR processes.
  • Provide guidance on health & safety matters to stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with Amazon WHS policies and develop local procedures to meet global standards.
  • Analyze safety metrics and incident trends to prioritize resource allocation.
  • Guide site teams in road safety procedures and act as OTR SME for site queries.
  • Coordinate incident reporting and tracking with partners.
  • Review incidents and corrective actions periodically, providing gap assessments.
  • Lead OTR safety technology implementation and initiatives.
  • Travel up to 50% and work flexible shifts.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in occupational health and safety, engineering, or science, plus NEBOSH Diploma.
  • 4+ years experience in OSH, with strong communication skills in English.
  • Valid driving license and road safety experience.
  • Ability to travel and work shifts as required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in road safety or similar domain.
  • Strong communication, teamwork, analysis, and customer focus skills.
  • Adaptability to fast-paced environments.
  • Ability to analyze safety data and conduct hazard analyses.
  • First aid and CPR certification, experience in emergency response.
  • Experience in Worker’s Compensation case management.
  • A passion for safety.
