Overview

We are seeking a Well Intervention Specialist to join the Unconventional Resources (UR) Completion Engineering Division under the Completion Operations Department.

The UR Completion Engineering Division is responsible for providing completion engineering support for our Unconventional fields. The support includes multistage hydraulic fracture design, execution and evaluation, well completion design, in addition to day-to-day engineering and operations support for field rig-less activities.

The Well Intervention Specialist’s primary role is to provide support to rig-less well intervention operations (wireline, slickline, coiled tubing and snubbing) including but not limited to plug and perf frac operations, post frac wellbore coiled tubing cleanout, through tubing fishing and milling operations, in addition to evaluation and deployment of new technologies related to well intervention operation. The Intervention Specialist will also be in charge of site visits and attendance of critical operations when needed.

Key Responsibilities

As the successful candidate you will be required to perform the following:

  1. Plan the well intervention activities and for the review and validation when completed, and for providing solutions for wells with integrity issues with support of well completion specialist.
  2. Be responsible for routine well Intervention, well diagnostics and proficient in downhole remediation practices and capable of preparing field operational procedures.
  3. The selection and trial test of new advanced well completion and intervention technologies will be one of your major responsibilities and to work with drilling department and frac service provider on wellhead transition, barrier requirements and design fit for purpose solutions.
  4. Be responsible for well and field completion performance and integrity modeling using industry recognized software.
  5. Ensure departmental compliance with mandated regulations and standards through constant monitoring and support for ongoing and future operations and make sure well barriers requirements are maintained in all types of intervention.
Minimum Requirements
  1. As the successful candidate you will hold a Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or petroleum engineering from a recognized and approved program.
  2. 10-15 years’ experience in rig-less well intervention operations that includes design, planning and execution of wireline, slickline and coiled tubing operation in critical sour gas and preferably unconventional operational environment.
  3. Experience in unconventional resources or High-pressure high-temperature, tight gas & oil well with a very good understanding of well intervention and stimulation operation and its impact on well completion.
  4. Proven record in running all types of intervention operations required in unconventional wells: Completion design, Tubing movements, Coiled tubing, Wireline, slick line, Hydraulic fracturing, flow back and capable of issuing a complete detailed program for each type of operation.
  5. Familiar with wellhead and downhole completion design, optimization, and troubleshooting.
  6. Extensive knowledge of industry regulations, safety practices and standards related to surface and downhole equipment selection.
  7. Experience in optimization of surface well intervention operation using latest new technologies and best practices.
