Overview
The Vibration Engineer is responsible for performing advanced condition monitoring and vibration analysis for rotating equipment in workshop and on-site environments. The role ensures equipment integrity, reliability, and performance by conducting vibration measurements, troubleshooting defects, executing trim balancing, and generating detailed analysis reports in line with industry standards and best practices.
Responsibilities
- Perform vibration measurements and analysis for all rotating equipment repaired in the workshop and on client sites.
- Monitor and validate motor testing results (vibration, temperature, sound, current analysis) and maintain condition monitoring records against acceptance standards.
- Troubleshoot defective motors and rotating equipment based on vibration analysis reports.
- Conduct bump tests for resonance structures and uncommon cases.
- Perform on-site trim balancing and precision alignment using dial gauges and laser shaft alignment devices.
- Execute thermal imaging diagnostics for electrical panels and mechanical equipment.
- Collect vibration data (overall and FFT) on predefined routes, identifying and differentiating simultaneous issues.
- Utilize vibration proximity probes and conduct orbit analysis.
- Address and resolve vibration-related customer complaints on-site.
- Manage calibration and upkeep of vibration data analyzers and monitoring tools.
- Adhere to HSE protocols, ensuring personal and team safety in all activities.
Qualifications
Education & Certification:
- Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, or Electronics Engineering.
- Category II (Level 2) Certification in Vibration Analysis (ISO/ANSI compliant) or equivalent.
Experience:
- 4–5 years of proven experience in vibration analysis, condition monitoring, and rotating equipment maintenance within the Solar, Power, Energy industries.
Technical Skills & Knowledge:
- Proficiency in vibration analysis techniques for detecting resonance, rolling element bearing faults, gear and flow-related problems, and electrical abnormalities.
- Strong expertise in rotating equipment, including motors, pumps, compressors, and fans.
- Skilled in shaft alignment (dial gauge and laser), trim balancing, and thermal imaging applications.
- Knowledge of industry standards (ISO, API, and OEM guidelines).
- Proficiency in diagnostic tools, data analyzers, and relevant software.
- Strong communication, reporting, and client-facing skills.
