Job Summary
The Transportation Coordinator is responsible for planning, coordinating, and monitoring transportation activities to ensure the timely and efficient delivery of goods. This role involves communicating with carriers, suppliers, and internal teams, maintaining transportation schedules, tracking shipments, and resolving issues to support the overall supply chain operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Schedule and coordinate inbound and outbound shipments.
- Communicate with drivers, carriers, suppliers, and internal teams to ensure on-time delivery.
- Track shipments and provide status updates to stakeholders.
- Prepare and maintain transportation-related documentation, such as bills of lading, shipping manifests, and delivery receipts.
- Ensure compliance with DOT regulations, company policies, and safety standards.
- Address and resolve shipping issues, delays, or damage claims in a timely manner.
- Optimize transportation routes and methods to reduce costs and improve efficiency.
- Maintain accurate records of transportation activities, expenses, and performance metrics.
- Use transportation management systems (TMS) and other software tools to monitor and manage logistics.
- Collaborate with warehouse, purchasing, and customer service teams to ensure seamless operations.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; associate or bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain, or related field preferred.
- 2+ years of experience in transportation coordination, logistics, or a related role.
- Familiarity with transportation management systems (TMS) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of DOT regulations and shipping best practices.
- Attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
