Summary
Specialize in surgical procedures. Surgery is any procedure that alters body tissues to diagnose or treat a medical condition. A general surgeon is part of a surgical team that also includes an anesthesiologist, nurses, and surgical technicians.
Education/Qualifications Required:
- Basic medical degree from recognized institution
- Post-qualification certification
- Qualification Source from: Western Europe, Australia or New Zealand.
- UK and Ireland: GMC/CCST Specialist Register
- Australia and New Zealand: Fellowship from the Royal College (FRACP)
- Western Europe: Equivalent certification to the above
Experience Post-Qualifications:
- Minimum Three (3) years after board/equivalent certification in Ireland, UK, Australia, New Zealand and France (DES).
- Minimum Five (5) years after board/equivalent certification in Spain, Germany, Italy, Portugal, Belgium, Denmark, Sweden, Switzerland, Norway, Austria, Netherlands, Greece and France (DIS).
License:
Current and in a Good Standing Medical License to practice in country of residence.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Performing the professional duties of a specialty in accordance with the delineation of the scope of care and privileges as recommended by the Chief of department and approved by the Credentials Committee
- Performing duties in the outpatient clinic according to Ministry of National Guard – Health Affairs
- Providing needed care to patients in the wards
- Performing procedures according to privileges
- Providing consultation services to inpatient and outpatient cases within area of expertise
- Sharing on-call duties as per schedule according to the Ministry of National Guard – Health Affairs
- Supervising work of assistants, associate consultants, and junior physicians; providing evaluations as requested by the Chief of Service
- Ensuring accurate and professional medical documentation and supervising team documentation
- Collaborating closely with colleagues
- Communicating effectively with colleagues and patients
- Participating in team activities and sharing administrative responsibilities
- Undertaking administrative duties related to patient care under division head’s guidance
- Providing patient and family education based on individual needs
