AtkinsRéalis is seeking a qualified and dependable Assistant Resident Engineer (ARE) to support our projects. We are also hiring an experienced and technically proficient Traffic Engineer to oversee traffic management aspects of a Roads and Infrastructure Project. This role involves reviewing and supervising traffic diversions, detour plans, and ensuring compliance with Work Zone Traffic Management Guidelines (WZTMG), QTM, and MOT approvals. The ideal candidate will have at least 10 years of experience, including 7 years on infrastructure/roadwork projects involving temporary and permanent traffic arrangements in Qatar.

Responsibilities:
  • Review and evaluate Traffic Management Plans (TMPs), Temporary Traffic Diversions (TTDs), and detour submissions from the contractor.
  • Ensure all traffic control measures conform to MOT and Qatar Traffic Manual (QTM) standards.
  • Conduct routine inspections of implemented diversions to verify safe and compliant execution.
  • Coordinate with the Resident Engineer, contractors, and local authorities (MOT, Traffic Police) for permits and approvals.
  • Provide input on permanent traffic signal layouts, roundabouts, junctions, and signage placement.
  • Monitor public access, pedestrian safety, and vehicle movement within and around the construction zones.
  • Identify risks to traffic flow, safety, and access during construction activities and propose mitigation strategies.
  • Support the supervision team during design/shop drawing reviews related to signage, striping, ITS elements, and road safety audits.
  • Maintain documentation, correspondence, and reporting related to traffic operations, incidents, and approvals.
  • Assist in stakeholder coordination for temporary diversions affecting utilities, residences, businesses, or public facilities.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or Transportation Engineering.
  • Minimum 10 years total experience, with at least 7 in roads and infrastructure projects, with exposure to live traffic environments in Qatar.
  • Training or certification in traffic safety/control (WZTMG, QTM, MOT workshops).
  • Grade A UPDA is a plus.
  • Excellent command of English (spoken and written).
  • Familiar with document management systems (DCS), MS Office, AutoCAD (viewing), and site-related software.

  • Strong technical understanding of temporary and permanent traffic management.
  • Familiarity with local traffic regulations, WZTMG, and QTM.
  • Ability to evaluate road safety and traffic flow impacts.
