TPE / V Principal Fire Protection Engineer

Job Description

Expected:

• BS in Chemical Engineering with 10 - 15 years of relevant experience in the field
• Basic Knowledge of developing HMB, PFDs, P&IDs, MSDs
• Ability to perform hydraulic calculations and equipment sizing
• Basic knowledge of relief and blowdown calculations
• Ability to develop process simulations

Typical Responsibilities

• Developing safety philosophy documents (firewater & process safety)
• Conducting flare radiation analysis using Flaresim or similar software
• Performing hydrocarbon dispersion analysis using DNV Phast
• Determining safety equipment requirements (e.g., eyewash stations, safety showers)
• Designing plant escape and evacuation procedures and layouts
• Performing quantitative risk assessments (QRA) using Safeti (an add-on to Phast from DNV)
• Designing firefighting systems for buildings and equipment
• Calculating fire network hydraulics using Pipenet or similar software
• Creating fire system P&IDs (firewater network and pumps)
• Designing coverage layouts for hydrants and monitors
• Participating in safety workshops such as PHA, HAZOP, SIL/LOPA
