Job Purpose

To lead and contribute to the preparation of tenders or bids for engineering projects, specifically those involving mechanical systems or components, ensuring competitive, accurate, and technically sound proposals that align with client requirements and organizational objectives.

Key Accountability Areas

• Analyze Project Requirements: Thoroughly analyze project specifications to identify key technical and commercial factors, ensuring accurate and comprehensive tender submissions.

• Tender Evaluation and Negotiation: Participate actively in tender evaluation meetings, present proposals, and negotiate with clients.

• Compliance Assurance: Ensure all tenders comply with client specifications, industry standards, and legal requirements, maintaining a high standard of quality and safety.

• Collaboration: Collaborate with team members in creating project budgets and communicate effectively with clients.

• Documentation: Develop and maintain project budgets, ensuring cost control measures are in place to optimize project profitability.

Role Accountability

• Presentation: Develop technical and commercial proposals that align with project goals and company strategy.

• Post-Tender Activities: Participate in the post-tender review process to identify areas for improvement in future tendering activities.

• Component Selection and Specification: Review tender documents, design solutions, cost projects, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet client specifications and organizational goals.

• Regulatory Compliance: Ensure electrical designs comply with relevant industry standards, building codes, safety regulations, and certification requirements.

• Assurance and Review: Develop detailed cost estimates, including material, labor, equipment, and subcontractor costs.

• Skills: Proven experience in tendering, cost estimation, and proposal preparation for mechanical projects; proficiency in software tools such as AutoCAD, Revit, and MS Office.

• Tender Preparation: Review and analyze client requirements, project specifications, and tender documents.

• Client Interaction: Attend client meetings and site visits to gain insights into project requirements.

• Technical Coordination: Liaise with internal teams (design, procurement, and project management) to gather accurate data for proposals.

• Maintaining Documentation: Organize and maintain a library of electrical drawings, documents, and related project files.

• Adhering to Safety Standards: Ensure electrical drawings comply with relevant safety regulations and building codes.

• Minimum of 5-8 years of experience in Mechanical design and knowledge of construction processes and standards.
