Job summary

A leading group in Saudi Arabia is looking for a senior engineering manager to lead its technical office team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in civil engineering, manage reviews of technical submissions, and ensure compliance with international standards. This role requires excellent leadership and coordination skills to fulfill project benchmarks and mentor junior engineers, making it a crucial position for large-scale infrastructure projects.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 18 years of relevant experience in civil engineering and technical office management.
  • Strong knowledge of international codes (e.g., ACI, ASTM, BS).
  • Proficient in engineering and project management software.

Job description

  • Lead the technical office team including quantity surveyors, planners, draftsmen, and document controllers.
  • Review and approve technical submittals, shop drawings, method statements, material submittals, and RFIs before submission to consultants.
  • Coordinate between engineering disciplines, procurement, and construction teams to ensure design consistency and implementation feasibility.
  • Liaise with consultants, clients, and contractors to resolve technical issues and ensure timely approvals.
  • Oversee and validate quantity surveying and cost estimation processes for accuracy and alignment with project budgets.
  • Manage the preparation of as-built drawings, project handover documentation, and technical reports.
  • Ensure compliance with all technical standards, regulations, and quality requirements.
  • Develop and monitor schedules for shop drawing submissions, material approvals, and technical documentation.
  • Conduct value engineering and participate in design optimization when needed.
  • Mentor junior engineers and oversee technical training and performance development within the team.

Skills

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited institution. Master’s Degree is a plus.
  • Minimum 18 years of relevant experience in civil engineering and technical office management, preferably in large-scale infrastructure or construction projects.
  • Strong knowledge of international codes and standards (e.g., ACI, ASTM, BS, etc.).
  • Proficient in engineering and project management software (AutoCAD, Primavera, Revit, MS Project, etc.).
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and coordination skills.
