Overview

We are seeking a Syngas Expert to join our Research & Development Center (R&DC).

R&DC conducts strategic research, development, and demonstration programs supporting Aramco’s innovation initiatives, focusing on strategic and downstream research projects.

Your primary role will support hydrogen and sustainability programs. This newly created position will oversee the development of reforming technologies for synthesis gas production, advancing from pilot to pre-commercial scales.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct feasibility studies (pre- and full-scale) of reforming processes such as steam reforming, gasification, and partial oxidation for hydrogen and hydrogen carrier production.
• Lead research team activities in collaboration with partners and stakeholders.
• Assist with commissioning, operation, and maintenance of pilot and pre-commercial reforming units.
• Coordinate with production and planning teams to facilitate deployment of oil-based reforming technologies across Aramco assets.
• Mentor junior engineers and stay updated on advancements in reforming technologies.

Minimum Requirements

• PhD in Chemical Engineering with specialization in hydrocarbon reforming.
• At least 10 years of professional experience, preferably in design or operational roles related to hydrocarbon hydrogen production.
• Knowledge of reforming technologies including catalytic partial oxidation, autothermal reforming, steam reforming, and emerging synthesis gas/hydrogen production concepts.
