Job Description
Role Purpose
To supervise the development and implementation of SANS' sustainability strategies, engage stakeholders to enhance Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) efforts for collaborative progress, and monitor performance to optimize resources and maximize the organization’s environmental impact while ensuring long-term resilience and alignment with corporate and societal values, within set KPIs, agreed budgets, and adopted policies and procedures.
Knowledge and Experience
- Minimum 6 years of experience in sustainability management, ESG roles, environmental management, or a related field.
Education and Certifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Business Administration, or a related field.

Key Activities
Strategic Sustainability Planning
- Develop the company’s sustainability strategy aligned with organizational goals.
- Conduct regular assessments of environmental, social, and governance impacts, identifying opportunities for improvements.
- Oversee KPI alignment and tracking for sustainability initiatives.
- Implement the long-term sustainability roadmaps aligned with industry standards and stakeholder expectations.
Initiatives Planning and Implementation
- Develop detailed plans for sustainability initiatives with objectives, timelines, and resource needs.
- Oversee the monitoring process to ensure initiatives stay on track and meet objectives.
- Communicate progress and challenges to senior management, providing updates on sustainability initiatives.
- Optimize resource use to efficiently achieve sustainability goals.
Stakeholder Engagement & Communication
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including operations, finance, HR, and marketing, to drive sustainability objectives across departments.
- Prepare and deliver sustainability reports, presentations, and updates to senior management, investors, and other stakeholders.
- Support in developing and implementing employee engagement initiatives to foster a culture of sustainability within the organization.
Monitoring and Reporting
- Ensure alignment across teams for initiative progress and goals.
- Encourage cross-departmental collaboration to support sustainability goals.
- Guide the development of project plans, timelines, and budgets to align with organizational objectives.
Innovation and Continuous Improvement
- Monitor the execution of pilot programs and evaluate their effectiveness and scalability.
- Assess the manager's findings on new technologies and best practices to determine strategic relevance.
- Ensure adequate resources are allocated for pilot programs and R&D collaborations.
- Collaborate with R&D to source sustainable materials and methods for product development.
Policies, Processes and Procedures
- Support in monitoring day-to-day activities to ensure compliance with stipulated policies and procedures.
- Contribute to the identification of opportunities for continuous improvement of systems and processes taking into account leading practices, changes in business environment, cost reduction, and productivity improvement.
People Management
- Actively participate in on-the-job training, mentoring, and coaching of subordinates.
- Provide clear direction, prioritize tasks, assign and delegate responsibility, and monitor the workflow.
