The opportunity:

Implementing and adhere to Supplier Quality Engineer ensuring customer satisfaction with HV products by applying risk-oriented quality assurance methodologies and necessary supplier improvement initiatives to achieve on-time and on-quality delivery of supplier parts or materials. Complete quality audits, surveillance, and inspections at supplier manufacturing locations. Perform supply quality issue resolution for escalated suppliers. Lead supplier performance tracking for each BU or HBU category. Lead supplier performance improvement actions for targeted suppliers. Implement and sustain Hitachi Energy supply quality procedures within the BU or HBU’s. Ensure appropriate utilization of Supply Base Management tools.

How you’ll make an impact:

  • Supplier Qualification and Support: Category teams in the supplier qualification process by evaluating supplier qualification assessment forms and recommending appropriate qualification levels, ensure the supply base remains fully qualified and compliant through regular monitoring and reporting of qualification status.
  • Supplier Assessment (On-site Audits): Plan and conduct required supplier on-site audits, including assessment reporting (with qualification decision) and corrective action plan alignment with suppliers, follow up and confirm the effective closure of corrective action plan items by suppliers.
  • Supplier Issue Resolution, Non-Conformance, and Claim Management: Lead the non-conformity resolution process with suppliers in case of escalated technical issues from factories, ensuring effective root-cause analysis and counter-measure implementation by suppliers, escalate suppliers to BU/HUB SQM in case of poor resolution of identified issues.
  • Supplier Performance Monitoring: Monitor and consolidate supplier delivery and quality KPIs, critical non-conformities escalated from factories and ensure completion of annual Supplier Performance Evaluations (SPE) for identified suppliers by Category Management (including reporting per Category/HUB), Identify critical supplier lists per category and define improvement targets per supplier, Plan and execute supplier on-site assessments in case of detailed process investigation requirements and share supplier performance KPIs and critical supplier lists regularly with BU/HUB SCM and Category Teams.
  • Supplier Performance Improvement: Lead supplier performance improvement actions for targeted suppliers to meet customer and Hitachi Energy factories' expectations (following DMAIC, A3, and/or 8D methodology), escalate suppliers to BU/HUB Category Management in case of uncooperative suppliers.
  • Process and Systems Compliance: Implement PG/PGHV supply quality procedures within the assigned responsibility area and develop and issue specific supplier and part/material quality procedures for related categories, ensure appropriate utilization of SBM tools within BU/HUB organizations and local units and monitor and ensure supplier performance data, supplier quality costs, and claims are reported according to PG/PGHV guidelines and instructions.
  • Interface with Category Management: Collaborate closely with Category teams to support the implementation of Category strategy (CIPS) and provide recommendations from supplier performance and capability perspectives (e.g., support for supplier classification, new supplier selection, onboarding, or de-sourcing recommendations).
  • Interface with Suppliers: Represent the "voice of the customer" to suppliers during audits and other remote activities and follow-up (e.g., interfacing with suppliers' engineering, operations, and quality senior management).
  • Quality Projects: Complete special quality and continuous improvement projects such as Advanced Product Quality Planning, Lean Six Sigma, supplier manuals, etc., in line with yearly BU SQ targets, lead and execute assigned Dynamic Evolution projects for corresponding categories (including team establishment, necessary preparation to pass each gate, and tracking of benefit realization).

Your background:

  • A bachelor’s degree or above in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Minimum 8+ years in relevant quality assurance, manufacturing, supplier development, or other operational experience from international production companies and knowledge of high voltage products and quality assurance, process control is preferred, strong learning agility, L6S Black Belt or Green Belt certification is preferred.
  • Well-developed analytical abilities, systematic problem-solving, and quality improvement skills and familiarity with ISO-9001, IATF16949, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 standards and external auditor certification is a plus and proven experience with process audits, APQP/PPAP, P-FMEA, Process Control Plan, Statistical Process Control, and inspection test plan creation, good attitude to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Fluent in English, with other languages being an advantage.
  • Flexibility to travel up to 50%.
  • Proficiency in both spoken & written English language is required.
