Job description

Job Responsibilities:

  1. Plan and conduct independent work requiring judgment in the evaluation, selection, application, and adaptation of engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria.
  2. Assist in devising new approaches to problems, prepare or modify drawings, specifications, calculations, charts, and graphs, and monitor work for compliance with applicable codes and accepted engineering practices.
  3. Analyze and configure the basic structural components of a building or other structure to ensure design quality.
  4. Review design criteria (including basic structural components, geotechnical properties, wind loads, seismic loads, fire protection) and ensure the adequacy of the design.
  5. Analyze structural elements to ensure design quality.
  6. Review loading plans for compliance with codes and project operational requirements.
  7. Determine the pressures experienced by structural components due to human use or environmental factors such as weather or earthquakes.
  8. Study the impact of temporary works (formwork, tower crane foundations, supports) on structural elements, provide calculations and details, and ensure compliance.
  9. Liaise with designers, including architects, to agree on safe designs that align with the aesthetic concept of the project.
  10. Provide safe structural solutions that meet architectural and MEP requirements.
  11. Prepare shop drawings with necessary details based on tender drawings for consultant approval.
  12. Review tender drawings versus IFC drawings and report changes to the technical manager for the commercial department.
  13. Provide material lists for all structural elements according to the project schedule.
  14. Contribute to the preparation of technical packages related to the structural scope in a timely manner.
  15. Review procurement offers related to structural work to ensure adherence to codes and project design.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Civil or Structural Engineering.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Job Experience:

Minimum 8 years of working experience, with 5 years relevant experience; 3 years GCC experience is a plus.
