Summary

Within the mission, vision and values of Saudi Arabian Ministry of National Guard – Health Affairs, in close collaboration with medical and other healthcare team members demonstrates advanced nursing knowledge and applies this knowledge to the assessment, diagnosis, delivery and design of nursing care and interventions in the Pediatric Cardiac Stepdown Clinic. Function under a collaborative management model where Medicine and Nursing jointly participate in decisions.

Education/Qualifications Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing

Experience Post-Qualifications:

  • Minimum Two (2) years of clinical experience post qualification
  • Minimum One (1) year in Pediatric Cardiac Clinic

License:

Current and in good Standing Nursing License/Registration (RN) to practice in country of residence

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate advanced cardiac nursing knowledge and clinical competence in the Pediatric Cardiac Stepdown Unit.
  • Act as an advisor and resource person within the Pediatric Cardiac Stepdown Unit, supporting care of post-operative and medically managed pediatric cardiac patients.
  • Work in collaboration with the multidisciplinary cardiac team within the remit of the Registered Nurse (RN) license to provide comprehensive, specialized cardiac nursing care, including monitoring of telemetry and complex cardiac medications.
  • Act as an advisor and resource person for current evidence-based pediatric cardiac nursing practices.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication and collaboration skills with patients, families, and all members of the Pediatric Cardiac Stepdown healthcare team.
  • Function as a patient advocate, ensuring the cardiac needs and safety of all pediatric patients under care.
  • Maintain precise documentation and record keeping, with special attention to cardiac monitoring, medication administration, and clinical assessments.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all records, reports, and results related to pediatric cardiac patient care.
  • Act as an educational resource for clinical staff, mentoring new nurses in cardiac monitoring techniques, pediatric assessment, and stepdown protocols.
  • Participate in pediatric cardiac research activities and ensure the application of best practice guidelines in the Stepdown Unit.
  • Assess patient and family educational needs regarding cardiac conditions, surgeries, recovery plans, and discharge planning using appropriate resources.
  • Demonstrate respect, compassion, and cultural sensitivity to patients and families dealing with complex cardiac illnesses.
  • Advocate for excellence in pediatric cardiac patient care and safeguard patient rights at every stage of recovery.
  • Lead and participate in the development of nursing initiatives or educational programs aimed at improving pediatric cardiac patient quality, safety, and family education.
  • Undertake clinical audits and research contributing to ongoing improvement of pediatric cardiac nursing practices.
  • Comply with and actively participate in Quality Improvement Projects and initiatives relevant to cardiac care in the Stepdown Unit.
  • Maintain strict infection control practices, particularly around post-surgical pediatric cardiac patients.
  • Participate in system and program evaluations to enhance cardiac patient outcomes and optimize use of Stepdown Unit resources.
  • Make recommendations for changes based on pediatric cardiac evidence-based practices and clinical guidelines.
  • Lead, develop, and review policies, procedures, and clinical practice guidelines for the Pediatric Cardiac Stepdown Unit.
  • Serve as a professional role model, consultant, and educator for pediatric cardiac nursing staff.
  • Develop and maintain strong professional collegial networks with hospital employees, students, and faculty specializing in pediatric cardiac care.
  • Assume full responsibility for own actions, clinical decisions, and behaviors while caring for vulnerable pediatric cardiac patients.
  • Demonstrate initiative, critical thinking, and proactive patient management with minimal supervision.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned within the Pediatric Cardiac Stepdown Unit.
