Summary
Within the mission, vision and values of Saudi Arabian Ministry of National Guard – Health Affairs, in close collaboration with medical and other healthcare team members demonstrates advanced nursing knowledge and applies this knowledge to the assessment, diagnosis, and delivery of nursing care in the ICN Clinic. Education/Qualifications Required:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing
Experience Post-Qualifications:
- Minimum Two (2) years of clinical experience post qualification
- Minimum One (1) year in Neonatal Intermediate Care
License:
Current and in good Standing Nursing License/Registration (RN) to practice in country of residence
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Demonstrate advanced neonatal nursing knowledge and clinical competence in the Intermediate Care Nursery (ICN).
- Act as an advisor and resource person within the Intermediate Care Nursery, providing care for premature and ill newborns requiring less intensive monitoring than the NICU.
- Work in collaboration with the multidisciplinary neonatal team within the remit of the Registered Nurse (RN) license to provide specialized nursing care, including oxygen therapy, feeding support, and phototherapy.
- Act as an advisor and resource person for current evidence-based neonatal intermediate care nursing practices.
- Demonstrate excellent communication and collaboration skills with families, interdisciplinary neonatal care teams, and allied health professionals.
- Function as a patient advocate, ensuring the highest standards of safety, growth, and developmental care for infants in the ICN.
- Maintain accurate documentation and record keeping, including feeding tolerance, weight gain, and clinical assessments.
- Maintain confidentiality of all records, reports, and results related to neonatal patient care.
- Act as an expert educational resource for clinical staff and actively participate in teaching and mentoring of nurses and students in neonatal intermediate care.
- Participate in neonatal care research activities and promote the use of best practice guidelines in the Intermediate Care Nursery.
- Assess family educational needs regarding feeding, growth milestones, and home care planning, providing teaching and support for safe discharge.
- Demonstrate respect, compassion, and cultural sensitivity to families caring for premature or medically complex infants.
- Advocate for excellence in neonatal patient care and the rights of newborns and their families.
- Lead and participate in the development of nursing initiatives and educational programs aimed at improving intermediate care patient quality and family education.
- Undertake clinical audits and contribute to neonatal research that enhances knowledge and practices in the Intermediate Care Nursery.
- Comply with and participate in Quality Improvement Projects and safety initiatives relevant to neonatal care.
- Maintain infection control practices specific to premature and medically fragile infants.
- Participate in the evaluation of ICN systems and care programs to maximize infant growth, development, and timely discharge.
- Make recommendations for practice changes based on evidence-based neonatal care guidelines.
