Sr Technician II, Shift Maintenance Job

An exciting opportunity is available for a Senior Technician in Shift Maintenance, based in KSA, reporting directly to the Workshop Superintendent.

Summary:

We are seeking a motivated Technician in Shift Maintenance to perform and determine maintenance activities on company assets. The role works on shift (largely independently), reports to a day-shift Superintendent, and is authorized to review and sign off on completed tasks using the related IT system. The technician may also be assisted by Stage A technicians to facilitate task completion according to defined quality and HSE standards.

In this role, you will be responsible for:

  1. Create and maintain a work environment conducive to achieving excellence.
  2. Prioritize safety in all work performed.
  3. Escalate issues to superiors when work appears invalid or costly.
  4. Review work to be performed and determine the best approach, consulting with Supervisors, Planners, and Stores as necessary.
  5. Monitor and commission plant systems.
  6. Improve job estimates, planning, and scheduling based on feedback from relevant departments.
  7. Ensure timely submission of completed work packets with comments for improvement.
  8. Provide accurate job estimates based on required skills and resources.
  9. Collaborate with production, subcontractors, suppliers, and customers to resolve complex problems.
  10. Maintain conveyor belts, including tracking for misalignment.
  11. Manage work control status and backlog from submission to completion.
  12. Verify availability of materials, tools, and labor before starting work.
  13. Possess good knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems for troubleshooting.
  14. Experience in shaft alignment, bearing assembly/dismantling, and lubrication.
  15. Handle breakdown jobs independently during shifts.
  16. Maintain inventory of essential items to ensure equipment operability.
  17. Perform diagnostics and complex maintenance tasks on plant equipment.
  18. Report shift activities via shift logbook and SAP.
  19. Respond promptly to on-call maintenance requests.
  20. Report equipment deficiencies and support Stage A technicians as delegated.
  21. Supervise contract technicians and craftspeople for specific tasks.
  22. Contribute to training departmental trainees for future competence.
  23. Demonstrate knowledge in lubrication system management, including oil and filter changes.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience:

  • Millwright with a 3-year tertiary diploma (Mechanical and Electrical).
  • Minimum of 10 years relevant experience in heavy industry, preferably in smelting.

Knowledge & Skills Required:

  • Facilitate team collaboration with visibility and solutions.
  • Excellent analytical skills and ability to work under pressure.
  • Extensive PLC (Siemens), electrical, and mechanical equipment knowledge.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills.
  • Ability to read blueprints, wiring diagrams, P&ID, and process drawings.
  • Understanding of maintenance processes, work order systems, planning, and storeroom procedures.
  • Experience in building and repairing electrical equipment.
  • Ability to work shifts, at heights, and in cramped spaces.
  • Good physical condition and safety awareness.
  • Ability to attend to breakdown jobs independently.
