Business Expertise (Company/Industry Knowledge)

The Senior Process Automation Engineer requires a comprehensive understanding of:

• Distributed Control Systems (DCS): Proficiency in DCS and auxiliary control systems, including third-party packaged systems and programmable logic controllers (PLC).
• Process Automation Applications: Knowledge of process automation system application packages such as:
• Batch control
• Alarm management
• Asset management
• Loop tuning
• Controller loop performance monitoring
• Management of change
• Chemical Engineering Principles: A solid foundation in chemical engineering principles, instrumentation design experience, and a background in plant operations/maintenance, enabling effective review, evaluation, and troubleshooting of process control system loops, control strategies, and safety system loops.
• Industrial Communication Protocols: Understanding of industrial communication protocols for data exchange between Basic Process Control Systems (BPCS) and PLC-based Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS), as well as field device communication protocols including Foundation Fieldbus and HART.
• Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS): Experience with programmable logic controller-based SIS and their application in chemical process facilities, machinery control/protection systems, and burner management systems.
• Project Engineering: Preferred experience in engineering improvement projects and new installations, with knowledge of various BPCS/SIS product lines from leading manufacturers such as ABB, Honeywell, Yokogawa, Invensys, and Triconex.
