Job description

Job Purpose:

The Sr. Load Master is responsible for ensuring that cargo aircraft are loaded correctly and that cargo doors for both main and lower decks, as well as in-plane loading systems, are operated in accordance with IATA standards, safety regulations, and the company's policies and procedures.

Job Accountabilities:

  1. Travel on each cargo flight as directed by the supervisor.
  2. Review load planning, weight, and balance documents; check the unit load devices to ensure proper preparation.
  3. Ensure the safe operation of cargo doors.
  4. Rely on self-operated loading systems to ensure safety.
  5. Ensure cargo is loaded within maximum hold, pallet, zone, weight, and cumulative load limits.
  6. Monitor the safe and correct stowage of special items such as heavy or bulky items, dangerous goods (flammable, magnetic, radioactive, etc.), live animals, perishables, and valuables.
  7. Prevent damage inside the aircraft.
  8. Perform frequent checks during flight and transit for shipments containing special loads to ensure safety.
  9. Ensure proper restraint of all unit load devices, bulky, and oversized cargo.
  10. Submit a detailed loadmaster's report upon completion of each flight.
  11. Ensure the security of the area outside the cockpit, including crew luggage.
  12. Coordinate with maintenance/flight mechanics in case of malfunction or damage; report to the COCC manager, senior loadmaster, and next station; keep the cabin logbook updated.
  13. Comply with aircraft limitations and restrictions set by the manufacturer, as well as the weight and balance/ground services procedures manual for each aircraft.
