Job Description
WSP is seeking a highly experienced Senior Hydraulic Modelling Engineer to lead and manage hydraulic modelling efforts for storm drainage network design and engineering projects. The ideal candidate will bring a minimum of 15 years of experience in hydraulic modelling, with a strong background in stormwater management systems and the ability to deliver high-quality solutions for complex infrastructure projects.
Responsibilities
Hydraulic Modelling:
Lead and oversee the development and calibration of hydraulic models for storm drainage networks, ensuring accurate simulation of stormwater flow and system performance.
Apply advanced hydraulic modelling software to design and optimize drainage systems, including flood management and stormwater runoff analysis.
Design and Analysis:
Perform hydraulic calculations and analyses for stormwater management, including capacity assessments and system optimization.
Design drainage systems based on hydraulic model results, ensuring compliance with local regulations and environmental standards.
Project Leadership:
Manage hydraulic modelling projects from concept to completion, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required specifications.
Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, including engineers, designers, and project managers, to ensure integrated solutions and smooth project execution.
Technical Guidance:
Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers and modelers, ensuring best practices are followed in hydraulic modelling and design.
Review and approve hydraulic modelling reports, calculations, and design documents.
Stakeholder Coordination:
Liaise with clients, regulatory authorities, and other stakeholders to address concerns and ensure that hydraulic modelling work aligns with project goals and requirements.
Attend meetings with clients and provide expert recommendations on drainage system performance and improvements.
Quality Assurance:
Ensure all hydraulic modelling work complies with WSP’s quality standards, industry regulations, and client expectations.
Conduct regular model reviews and validation to ensure the integrity and accuracy of hydraulic simulations.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a relevant discipline.
A minimum of 15 years of experience in hydraulic modelling for the design and engineering of storm drainage networks.
Extensive experience using hydraulic modelling software (e.g., SWMM, HEC-RAS, Mike11, or similar).
Proven track record in designing and optimizing stormwater systems, addressing flood risk management, and ensuring regulatory compliance.
Strong technical knowledge of hydraulic principles, stormwater management, and drainage network design.
Experience with similar large-scale infrastructure projects, demonstrating expertise in hydraulic analysis and design.
Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage complex projects and deliver innovative solutions.
